The Kunsthistorisches Museum (KHM) will present its first solo exhibition of the works of Diego Velázquez in 2014. Owing to the close family and political ties between the Habsburg rulers in Vienna and Madrid during the seventeenth century, the picture gallery at the KHM contains an important group of exceptional portraits of the King Philipp IV of Spain by the court painter. Loans from the National Gallery, London and the Museo del Prado, among other institutions, supplement the KHM collection.
